Montana de Luz hosts mission trips to our facility in Honduras about 12 times per year.  A mission trip is an opportunity for individuals and groups to participate in a one-week  mission team experience that will warm your heart, nurture your soul, expand your thinking, introduce you to new friends, and provide hope for children with HIV/AIDS in Honduras.

LEARNING...

During a mission trip, experiential learning is a priority. During your week you might learn:
1.
About a new culture
2. A bit of Honduran history
3. Some basic Spanish
4. Construction skills (Honduran)
5. Something about yourself

SERVING...

The poverty in Honduras is staggering. Hurricane Mitch, which struck Honduras in 1998, killed 10,000 people and left hundreds of thousands homeless. Today, many are still struggling to repair their lives and find suitable housing and work.

Honduras has 60% of all of the AIDS cases in Central America, and many of those infected are children. Some of our children have lost their parents to AIDS, and some come from families that cannot care for these medically fragile children.  We provide a home for them, but it takes many, many resources - not just financially, but also physically and emotionally.

You can make a difference!

Your mission trip week of building, repairing, planting and painting provides employment and enables us to improve our facilities. In addition, our serving with love is an important witness to the love of God in the world. Even so, most people come away from the experience certain that they received far more than they gave.

GROWING...

It's a time of stretching the body, mind, heart, and soul!

We believe that making a better world begins with our own lives. We value each person's spiritual journey and encourage time for reflection, journaling, and solitude. We appreciate the diversity and richness of each person's path. Some experience the presence of the Divine in the beauty of the earth, some in the relationships, some in the morning devotions and worship. There is a wonder and peace to be found for those who are seeking.

COMMITMENT...

The cost for our mission trips is $1,500 per person.  This includes airfare, meals, lodging, in-country transportation, building materials, labor and insurance.
