Annual report tracks MdL impact in Honduras

Entrance

Highlights from the 2024 annual report for the Mountain of Light include:

  • A group home in rural Honduras with 14 healthy children with undetectable levels of HIV.
  • A Healthy Families Honduras program that’s grown to serve 225 individuals in 65 families. Among other successes, the program keeps many children with their families rather than entering an orphanage or residential care facility.
  • Having 94 individuals start and maintain antiretroviral drug treatment, achieving undetectable levels of the HIV virus. That makes them healthier and unable to transmit HIV to others.
  • A small-business incubator that’s launched 20 sustaining businesses such as snack shops, used clothing stores and food stands.
  • Free mental health resources for all individuals and families on the caseload.
  • Expansion of the HIV education and advocacy program (Charla Luz), which has educated more than 5,500 people across Honduras since 2013 on HIV/AIDS, safe practices and the rights of people living with HIV.
  • Continued success of a youth scholarship program that supports education for six youth at MdL and five other children through distance learning.
  • Solid, growing financial support that has helped the Mountain of Light save and transform more and more lives.
