Supporters donated more than $125,000 during Fiesta 2024 to support children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Honduras. The annual fundraising gala featured special guest Sara Castellanos, national director of Montaña de Luz in Honduras. She made her first trip to the United States for the event. Her remarks inspired a lengthy standing ovation at Fiesta, which attracted 245 attendees.

In addition, two other native Hondurans inspired the crowd, sharing how support in the United States saves and transforms lives in Honduras. Erika Lopez of California and Alexis Lopez of Texas serve on MdL’s board of directors. Erika moved to California at age 11. Alexis, who previously worked as a staff member at the Mountain of Light, moved to Texas in 2021.

The event at St. Charles Preparatory School in Bexley, Ohio, featured an extensive silent auction, dinner, music and video updates from Honduras on MdL’s key focus areas.

Executive Director Anna Jackson thanked supporters in the audience and online for their generosity as well as their longstanding love and support for the children and staff at the Mountain of Light in Honduras. She credited Sara and her staff for their compassion, creativity and innovation in serving the ever-changing needs of children and families in Honduras.
