Students at Central College Christian School raised more than $7,000 to support the Montaña de Luz children’s home in Honduras. The annual Hoops for Honduras event at the Westerville, Ohio, school involves students getting sponsorships for each basket that they make during gym class.

“Our partnership with CCCS is such a treasure to us,” MdL Executive Director Anna Jackson said. “Over the years, their Hoops for Honduras event has helped raise over $100,000 for MdL. Thank you for blessing our organization with this incredible gift!”

In a new twist this year, fifth-grade students in a Spanish class held a video session with students at MdL in Honduras. The connections allowed the students to get to know their counterparts in the other country — and to practice Spanish and English together. Students also shared information such as their favorite food, sport, music and more.
