Help MdL buy a new van

MdL’s current van is becoming unsafe to drive. Recently, the sliding door flew open on the highway! The van is more than 10 years old and has more than 161,000 miles — driven largely on rough roads in Honduras. We need to raise $34,000 before November to secure a safe, reliable van. This is a huge unexpected cost for us, and we are calling on our faithful MdL community for help with this critical need.

There are a variety of ways to donate:

  • Mail: Send a check payable to Montaña de Luz to MdL, Box 410, Worthington, OH 43085.
  • Venmo: @montanadeluz.
  • Stocks/securities: You can gift stocks to MdL via our TD Ameritrade account. Contact us for details:
Our entire mission in Honduras depends on reliable transportation. Our current 12-passenger van is growing more unreliable and unsafe for our youth, staff and service team visitors from the United States.
Our mission is to empower children, youth and families affected by HIV in Honduras. On the mountain, we do this by transporting each of our youth to their monthly, and sometimes weekly, medical appointments, driving them daily to school, and by traveling to present Charla Luz education programs. Off the mountain, we do this by visiting families in their homes, transporting them to their medical appointments, making medication drop-offs to families that cannot travel, and delivering donations to their homes. In between, there are a thousand smaller but equally necessary trips – to the grocery, to visit our youth in foster care – as well as special excursions with the kids to the river, festivals and the occasional shopping trip.

Thank you so much for considering a donation during this emergency fund drive. Please feel free to share this urgent need with family and friends.
